I have just been rereading Nam, and once again am glad that I have never been so tested. Although I have been shot at, Nigeria 
is a fun place, I have never heard the war drums beaten in earnest.I have never had to protect my own land or strive to take another's.
Which is lucky for me since I am an arrant coward and at
the first sign of an angry military type I suspect that I would be on the run.
Not for me the courage of the lone fighter dug in
during the snow and waiting for the next attack. Nope, I'm not up to it, luckily at my age I am not likely to be called to take any military action.
But, just as bad, I might, as so often happens in conflict, find that the normal foods are not available and have to try less attractive meats. So I really hope that we can get some peace around the world in the near future.
